June is a progressive month in India’s education calendar, as schools reopen and new policies emerge, marking a month of liberal thinking and dynamic change. The CBSE has made a necessary decision by integrating Diabetes Awareness into its curriculum, considering student health as an essential part of holistic learning. In other landmark actions, CBSE has also established guidelines urging education in the mother tongue, proposing to make learning more relatable and inclusive.
The Andhra Pradesh government has set up the Talliki Vandanam scheme, providing 15,000 per child annually, transforming access to education and empowering mothers. Other states have made headlines as well. Delhi has rolled out Kaushal Bodh, a vocational learning programme for Classes 6 to 8, integrating schooling with other skills. Chhattisgarh has revised school timings to help children during a tough heatwave, presenting agility in protecting student well-being.
June has renewed focus on bridging the country’s enrolment-to-engagement gap. Efforts are being made throughout the nation to keep every child meaningfully engaged as schools reopen. This June has not just reopened schools; it has reopened conversations on equity, language, health, and learning. In every way, it has set the tone for a re-imagined year in Indian education.
