In View of School Closure, CBSE affiliation May be extended by 1 year

It is likely that the CBSE affiliated schools will be granted an extension of 1 year in their affiliation by the board.

The report is not based on any official notification. It has been deduced by the teachers in attendance in a video-conference with Mr. AnuragTripathi, Secretary, CBSE.

The board grants affiliation for 3 to 5 years under the new affiliation bye-laws 2018. After the completion of the time, the schools apply for the extension of affiliation, the last date for which was March 31. Earlier, the last date for applying for affiliation extension was extended to April 30. Now, the affiliation may get unconditionally extended for 1 year.

The decision of affiliation extension is being taken in view of the lockdown. Schools are closed in all parts of the country and the closure seems indefinite. Under these circumstances, doing the paperwork that is required for the extension application is increasingly difficult. The process is online but it requires documents from the District Education Office and other documents like survey reports, which are difficult to complete in the current situation.

The formal notification in this regard may be issued by the end of April.
