International Conference of Academic Institutions On NEP 2020


A two-day International Conference of Academic Institutions (ICAI) was held as part of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2022, on January 5 and 6, 2022. The event was conducted to discuss the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, in transforming education. It was organised by the Gujarat education department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of the Government of India, the Gujarat Skill Development and Employment Department, and several national and international universities. 

Multiple Government bodies partnered with the event, including but not limited to, NITI Aayog, University Grants Commission, National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Several International Organisations, such as the British Council, and Australia-India Business Exchange, and the International Institute of Education, participated in the conference. 

The aim of the conference was to lay out the road map and strategies for effectively implementing NEP 2020, along with increasing the strength of the relationships between the industry, academia, and students. Another object was to create links among national and international educational institutions. A total of 27 sessions on topics such as holistic and multidisciplinary education, skill enhancement and employability, digital empowerment, sustainable development goals in education, and so on, were conducted. 

The event was said to be an achievement, according to the Gujarat Education Minister, Jitu Vaghani. The Ministers of State for Education have both stated, that the NEP 2020 is a foundation for making the 21st century vision of India a reality. The discussions and deliberations of the event will be useful in ensuring a self-reliant India, as said by Amit Khare, Advisor to the Prime Minister.
