During a programme in Delhi to celebrate National Sports Day on August 29, the Union Education and Skill development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan championed sports-integrated learning and stressed on the importance of adopting fitness as a life-long attitude. He stated that this has been envisaged by the National Education Policy (NEP) as well, making sports as a part of the curriculum.

National Credit Framework will be rolled out with due weightage to sports. He further added that the award of academic credits for sporting activities will act as a catalyst in popularising sports. Inputs on this has been sought from the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry by the Education Ministry.
