CBSE to Launch PMKVY 4.0 under Skill Hub Initiative to Empower Students

In a proactive move towards enhancing students' employability, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all affiliated schools to launch Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 under the Skill Hub initiative. This directive underscores CBSE's commitment to equipping students with practical skills and aligning education with the evolving demands of the workforce. PMKVY 4.0, a flagship scheme of the Government of India, focuses on skill development across various sectors. By integrating this program into schools through the Skill Hub initiative, CBSE aims to provide students with industry-relevant training, fostering a seamless transition from education to employment.

The Indian government had announced the launching of PMKVY 4.0 in the Union Budget 2023. The move is not only a response to the changing dynamics of the job market but also a recognition of the importance of practical skills in shaping well-rounded individuals. PMKVY 4.0's emphasis on diverse skill sets aligns with the need for a workforce capable of contributing to different sectors of the economy. The National Education Policy of India (NEP) 2020 has highlighted the importance of promoting skill development in schools. Skill Hubs can be set up in the State and Central Government schools, Higher Education Institutes, Colleges and universities with requisite infrastructure.

The scheme targets school/college dropouts, out-of-school children and unemployed youths in the age group of 15-45 years. As schools embark on implementing this initiative, it opens up new horizons for students, offering them a pathway to acquire skills that go beyond traditional academic learning. The Skill Hub initiative, powered by PMKVY 4.0, is poised to instil a culture of lifelong learning and prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st-century workplace. CBSE's proactive approach in integrating skill development programs reflects a broader commitment to nurturing future-ready individuals. By bridging the gap between education and employment, this initiative sets the stage for a more dynamic and responsive education system that caters to the holistic development of students.
