CBSE Invites Applications for Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship 2024

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme for 2024 and invites eligible candidates to apply online at cbse.gov.in. This initiative aims to support academically meritorious female students who are the only child in their families and promote gender inclusivity in education. Eligible students include those who have passed CBSE Class X in 2024 with 70% or higher marks and are currently studying in Class XI or XII in CBSE-affiliated schools.

Applicants must meet the tuition fee criteria: no more than Rs.2,500 per month for Classes IX and X and a maximum of Rs.3,000 per month for Classes XI and XII. NRI students are also eligible if their tuition fee does not exceed Rs.6,000 per month. Additionally, the scheme covers students with a family income of up to Rs.8 lakh per annum. The scholarship offers Rs.1,000 per month to selected candidates. Students who have previously secured the scholarship can renew it for Class XII by achieving a minimum of 70% aggregate marks in Class XI.

CBSE's notification is a clear indication of the scheme's adherence to encouraging and empowering young girls through financial aid and merit recognition.
