SCERT’s ‘ANANDAM’ guidelines to lead activity-based education

The State Council of Educational Research & Training has launched the Joyful Learning Programme (Anandam) guidelines as the foundation for this first step. These guidelines encourage creativity and practical understanding, shifting classrooms beyond textbook-related education.

Students will be involved in thematic and creative workshops, interactive group activities that strengthen collaboration, educational visits to understand real-world applications and skill-based learning sessions under this framework.

Saturday competitions to develop teamwork and confidence

Schools will commit Saturdays to group activities and competitions, providing children with a refreshing break from routine education. Activities will include picnics, outdoor interactions, debate, and speech competitions to improve communication skills, sports and fitness events. These initiatives help children to find out their interests, support holistic growth and create strong social bonds together.

A step towards reducing stress and encouraging exploration

Bagless days will give children regular chances to learn meaningfully without an academic burden planned throughout the whole academic year. The government aims to spark curiosity, reduce stress, and make schooling a more joyful experience through this initiative.
