The AP government, led by the TDP-led NDA, has established the ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme, under which it will offer 15,000 annually for all school-going children in eligible households, regardless of whether they go to school from Class I to Intermediate. A senior official confirmed that this welfare scheme will benefit over 43 lakh mothers.

The scheme, one of the six flagship promises made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the 2024 elections, aims to empower mothers and guardians through financial assistance. Kona Sasidhar, Secretary to the Government, stated in an official order that the government has issued detailed guidelines for implementing the scheme.

The initiative seeks to support mothers/guardians across the state by providing 15,000 per child annually, with 2,000 of that amount automatically deducted to improve the state’s educational ecosystem, covering maintenance, hygiene, and sanitation. The government also plans to include children newly enrolling in Class I and Junior Intermediate within the scheme's scope.

It will apply to students throughout government, private aided, and unaided schools and junior colleges. Through providing this support, the scheme encourages inclusive and accessible education when aiming to improve learning outcomes and ensure equal opportunities for all students. Regarding Sasidhar, the initiative forces mothers to take an active role in their children’s education from Class I to Class XII, realising their significant influence on educational growth.

The state government has set the implementation and disbursal period for the scheme from June 12 to July 5. Officials describe ‘Talliki Vandanam’ as the “mother of all welfare schemes,” with an added intent to encourage population growth as part of a broader demographic management strategy.
