NCERT Warns Against Copyright Infringement of Textbook Content

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued a stern warning against unauthorised use of its educational materials. NCERT, responsible for developing and disseminating textbooks for all stages of school education, emphasized its role as an authorized repository of educational resources. The notice highlights that unauthorised publishers have been printing NCERT school textbooks under their name without obtaining permission from the education body.

The council cautioned the public against using such textbooks, citing potential inaccuracies and divergence from the philosophy of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. Any individual or entity found publishing NCERT textbooks for commercial sale or using their content without copyright permission will face legal action under the Copyright Act 1957. It also urges individuals to report any instances of pirated textbooks to NCERT promptly through email at pd.ncert@nic.in.

In Addition to this, NCERT has invited publishers seeking to use its name in publications to submit proposals to the Publication Division NCERT in New Delhi. This proactive approach aims to uphold the integrity of NCERT's educational materials and deter copyright infringement in the future.
