To ensure that the children do not lose touch with academics in the period of the lockdown and that they may not feel disoriented with regard to the syllabus when they return back to schools, CBSE and NCERT has taken up rationalization of the syllabus and revision of the Activities Calendar respectively for classes 1-8.
According to an official,” NCERT has come out with revised activities calendar for 1-8, CBSE is assessing the situation and loss of time to rationalize syllabus for classes 9-12 and inform in due course of time.”
The new calendar designed by the NCERT covers 4 weeks spanning the entire extended lockdown period. NCERT will continually make contingent revisions in case the lockdown is further extended.
The fact remains that every child may not have uninterrupted digital connectivity to avail. Keeping this in view, the activities have been designed in such a way that parents and teachers could conduct activities without the internet and discern the learning outcomes.
For those who have the virtual connectivity, social media linking has been done. Besides academics, Arts and Physical Education has been given space in the new activity calendar.
Chapters from the textbooks underlie the activities, this is done to ensure that the students remain comfortable with their syllabus, don’t lose out academically, and could catch up once they are back in the classrooms.
